John Cena In Talks To Star In Duke Nukem

John Cena is looking to take on aliens! The wrestler-turned-actor is in negotiations to star in a big screen adaptation of the popular video game, Duke Nukem.

Platinum Dunes, a production company run by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller, are producing the movie about the politically incorrect action hero. As of now, there is no director on board and a writer will soon begin developing the script for what is intended to be a starring vehicle for John Cena.

The video games follow the titular protagonist who began as a mash-up of various action-hero tropes. The character has been fighting aliens in order to save planet Earth since 1991 when the first game was released.

The film project was originally set up at Dimension Films but the rights eventually lapsed. This allowed Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes to take on the project. John Cena has really made Paramount Pictures a home of sorts having been featured in Daddy’s Home 1 & 2, which were big hits for the studio, and he’s set to appear in Bumblebee, the studio’s Transformers spinoff that is also produced by Michael Bay.
