Jake Gyllenhall Rumored to Play Batman

The latest in Warner Bros. DCEU disaster has now latched on to the dark knight himself. The latest rumor is that Warner Bros. is not fond of Ben Affleck and the titular role of the caped crusader is Jake Gyllenhaal’s to take if Affleck decides to depart from the role. While this news has been making the rounds since Justice League‘s mixed reception, Affleck has continued to remain non-committal to staying onboard which has lead to even more speculation that he will be leaving.

Late last year, Matt Reeves, who will be directing the upcoming Batman solo film, The Batman would in fact recast Batman for the  film, with Jon Hamm rumored to be taking over the role. However, that has not been officially confirmed, and  the latest reports starting that Gyllenhaal will be the new onscreen Batman soon. Revenge of the Fans has stated,

The Batman will be set in the larger DCEU (contrary to what some have said), and tell its own story that won’t have “many winks” to the franchise. The more interesting bit comes when their source offered an update on the possibility of Gyllenhaal signing on:

“Gyllenhaal is probably Batman. Affleck is not out of it yet. That’s the thing, he still has a contract. But the studio is sour on him. If Ben rolls, Jake is in. Kind of a weird web. These guys both know they control each other’s destiny.”

It seems that it is only a matter of time before Batman is recast.
