Gillian Anderson Confirms The X-Files 11th Season Is Her Last

As fans prepare for the 11th season of The X-Files to premiere, Gillian Anderson has commented on her future for a potential 12th season. Anderson has stated season 11, which is also the 25th anniversary of the show.

“I’ve said from the beginning this is it for me,” Anderson told TV Insider. “I was a bit surprised by people’s [shocked] reaction to my announcement…because my understanding was that this was a single season.”

“I think this will be it for me” during New York Comic Con in October.

“It felt like it wasn’t over,” Anderson said of her decision to return for The X-Files season 10. “It didn’t feel like we necessarily delivered everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that.”

The 10th season which was a hit for FOX is set to release the 11th season and Anderson, who has moved on since her time on the show, choice to not come back for a potential 12th season is no surprise.
