Today marks the 29th anniversary of Roseanne. To celebrate the anniversary, ABC dropped the first look at the cast’s first table read of the upcoming revival planned for 2018. The main photo was first posted on the official show Twitter account and features original cast members Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman, Sarah Gilbert, and Becky No. 1 and 2 – Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke. Chalke will be appearing in the revival in a new role.
Newcomers in the photo are Ames Mcnamara, Jayden Rey, director John Pasquin, EPs Bruce Helford, Whitney Cummings, Tony Hernandez and Co-Executive Producer Sid Youngers.
You know who is missing? Johnny Galecki, who played David, Darlene’s boyfriend/husband in the original series. Galecki is currently starring in CBS’ The Big Bang Theory and rumors say due to the competing networks, Galecki’s character may not return. Sarah Gilbert, who plays Darlene and has guest starred on TBBT says that there are productive talks to bring him back without causing network competition.
Should Roseanne take off after its 2018 premiere, Galecki may be able to return as a series regular because TBBT is ending after it’s next two seasons. Let’s hope he can return!
