At this past Sunday’s annual NBA All-Star game, fans all over the world were provided with one of the most interesting renditions of the National Anthem. Fergie’s rendition of the anthem attempted to call back to Marvin Gaye’s anthem at the 1983 NBA All-Star game in Los Angeles. However, Fergie’s attempt fell flat and she bas been criticized all over social media since her performance on Sunday.
This All Star opening is confusing me. WTF is going on? Anyone?

On Monday, Fergie released a statement discussing the feedback she received regarding her performance. She stated,
“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” says the 42-year-old singer. “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
It may be a while before Fergie will be invited to perform the National Anthem at any event.
