Early Blade Runner 2049 Reactions Call The Film ‘Oscar-worthy’

We are a little over a week away from the release of the highly anticipated Blade Runner 2049 and early reactions have began to appear online. Reactions to the first screenings of Blade Runner 2049, Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi epic, have not only been positive, but some are calling the film “Oscar Worthy”.

The most consistent line of praise the film has been getting up to this point  is for Villeneuve’s direction. Early remarks call it stunning, “hypnotic and immersive,” cementing Villeneuve as one of the best big budget film directors of the generation.

One critic said Blade Runner 2049’s storyline is more compelling and at times better than the original’s. Other critics have pointed out that the sequel is so heavily tied into Scott’s original Blade Runner, that it might even difficult to write a review without spoiling different aspects of the film.
