David S. Goyer Drops He-Man & the Masters of the Universe Directing Job

The Hollywood Reporter first reported that David S. Goyer has dropped his directing duties on Sony’s upcoming He-Man & the Masters of the Universe movie due to scheduling issues with work on Syfy’s Krypton though he does plan to stay on as the film’s writer and executive producer. Along with being an executive producer on Krypton, Goyer is hard at work at adapting Isaac Asimov’s Foundation trilogy into a miniseries.

He-Man is based on the Mattel toy line and has had several incarnations first as an animated TV series in 1983 and a 1987 movie starring Rocky IV‘s Dolph Lundgren. Currently, this recent iteration has a release date of Dec. 18, 2019, but no word if the director change will cause it to premiere in 2020.
