David Leitch, director of the highly anticipated Deadpool 2, is the top choice to direct The Untitled Fast and Furious Spinoff which will star Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

The spinoff will focus on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters, agent Luke Hobbs and criminal Deckard Shaw, from the popular franchise. It will also be written by Chris  Morgan, who has written pretty much every installment of the mega-popular franchise.

David Leitch is really making a name for himself in the industry. The former stuntman directed last summer’s Atomic Blonde and also did uncredited work on John Wick. The upcoming Deadpool sequel is his highest profile project to date.
