Coming Soon: The Goldfinch

One of 2019’s Oscar contenders has released its first trailer. Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have released the trailer to The Goldfinch, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Donna Tartt published in 2013.

The film is directed by John Crowley, director of 2015’s Brooklyn. The Goldfinch follows

a young Theo Decker, whose mother was killed in a bombing. Theo’s life is upended after this accident, which sends him on a journey of grief, reinvention, and love. All the while, his hope is tethered to a painting she loved called — yeah — “The Goldfinch.”

The cast includes Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman, Jeffrey Wright, Aneurin Barnard, Finn Wolfhard, Sarah Paulson, Willa Fitzgerald, Luke Wilson, and Ashleigh Cummings.

The Goldfinch hits theater on September 13.
