Captain Marvel Finds Its Directing Duo

Captain Marvel has found its dynamic directing duo in Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (Half NelsonMississippi Grind). Marvel has announced that Fleck and Boden will helm the picture – an important one for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it’ll be the first film to be led by a woman.

The directing choice came after Marvel confirmed the script writing team of Meg LeFauvre (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and casting Academy Award winner Brie Larson as leading lady.

Captain Marvel will follow Larson as Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, whose DNA becomes infused with that of an alien being (a member of the Kree in the Marvel Comics universe) during an accident. The infusion gives Danvers superpowers including super strength, flight, and energy projection.

Captain Marvel flies into theaters on March 8, 2019.
