Andrew Lincoln Considering Leaving The Walking Dead

The Walked Dead, despite it’s sub-par episodes as of late is still one of the most popular shows on television. The ratings for the show continue to make AMC one of the most popular networks around. However, news may not all be great as Andrew Lincoln has suggested a potential endgame for his Rick character. In recent interviews, Lincoln stated before the premiere of season 8,

“There’s only so many ways you can bend and stretch this and that,” Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly ahead of Season Eight’s premiere. “I’m not saying that the show would ever finish, but I certainly think that there’s an opportunity for the show to change at some point, and I think it should.”

These comments came prior to The Walking Dead’s Season Eight’s launch and possibly Lincoln knew about Chandler Riggs’ apparently exit from the series, which may have lead to his comments in a recent  Hollywood Reporter interview where he has interest in a conclusion to his character.

“I’ve said to you before and I really feel that the fans — and also for my own satisfaction — that there deserves to be an end point,” Lincoln said. “There needs to be an end game and that is something that is definitely being talked about. I can’t get into all of that. But all of that will be answered. As I’ve said to you before — and I will continue to say — my relationship with Rick Grimes is far from over.”

It may seem awkward for the lead character to a show as popular as The Walking Dead to lose its lead character during its height, however, Lincoln may have other goals and those goals may not include a role on the show. Time will tell how this may turn out but fans of the show will surely miss Lincoln if he were to depart.
