As a fan of the Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra starring Guys and Dolls, I’ve always wondered why Hollywood hasn’t attempted to remake the film. That wonder is now gone as TriStar Pictures Guys And Dolls is taking off with Academy Award winner Bill Condon set to direct the film.
The news which was first reported by Deadline confirms that Condon has been weighing several films for his next directing job but Guys And Dolls moved to the top of the list following a meeting with the studio about how excited they were to finally get the project off the ground.
For those unfamiliar with the property, Guys And Dolls made its debut on Broadway in 1950 and it ran for 1,200 performances and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. Along with that, it received a 1955 film adaptation starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra, and Vivan Blaine.
