The Baker and the Beauty only ran for nine-episodes on ABC during this current mid-season but it looks like it has made itself some pretty famous fans. The show was recently canceled by the network but actresses Zoe Saldana and Eva Longoria, along with the show exuberant fans, are fighting to save the series.
Saldana posted a still of the show on Instagram and, in the caption, called for ABC to reconsider its cancelation, writing: “@abcnetwork set the trend, be the first to stick around.” You can check out her Instagram post below:
The series also found in fan in former Desperate Housewives’ star, Eva Longoria. The actress is no stranger to having a show featuring a mostly Latin cast get canceled after one season. Despite solid reviews and a pretty rabid fanbase, ABC canceled the show Grand Hotel, which Longoria executive produced, after only one season as well. You check out Longoria’s Instagram post below:
The Beauty in the title, star Nathalie Kelley, took to Twitter to say that she thinks ABC’s loss will be someone else’s gain:
Guys we appreciate the love and well wishes following ABC’s decision not to renew us for a second season. But honestly their loss will be someone else’s gain, so stay hopeful and activated about the show while we find it the right home! Love u all #thebakerandthebeauty

There may be some heat to all the attention the show has gotten since ABC canceled it. If the show is saved, it wouldn’t be the first time that fan outcry saved a series that was canceled on one network to ultimately end up on another. Shows saved from cancellation fate include One Day at a Time, Nashville, The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Last Man Standing. There is also a fan petition that has been signed by over 102,000 fans and growing so there could be hope for The Baker and the Beauty to find another home.
The series, starring Victor Rasuk and Nathalie Kelley in the lead roles, is a Notting Hill-like show, adapted from an Israeli rom-com series. It follows Daniel Garcia (played by Victor Rasuk) in the “Hugh Grant-like” role, as he works in his Cuban family’s bakery and falls for international fashion mogul Noa Hamilton (played by Kelley). In addition to Rasuk & Kelley, the show also stars Carlos Gomez, Lisa Vidal, Michelle Veintimilla, David Del Rio, Blissa Escobedo, and Dan Bucatinsky.
