Despite appearing slightly on the bubble, ABC has renewed Single Parents for a second season.
Single Parents has been well-received by critics and is developing a fanbase that is in line with the current comedy lineup that ABC has flourished at. The show has been airing behind Modern Family during its first season and that will continue as it heads into its second.
The series got a full-season-pickup back in October after three episodes. It’s been averaging a 1.2 demo rating and 4.07 million viewers for the full season and sees some gains in DVR playback and other platforms.
The single-camera show follows a group of very different, you guessed it, single parents, as they lean on one another to help raise their 7-year-old kids and maintain some kind of personal lives outside of parenthood, sort of. The series stars Taran Killam, Leighton Meester, Kimrie Lewis, Jake Choi, Marlow Barkley, Tyler Wladis, Devin Trey Campbell, Mia Allan, Ella Allan & Brad Garrett.
