Following the incredible success of Wonder Woman, there was little doubt the film would lead to a sequel. Patty Jenkins recently confirmed she would return to direct and write the follow-up, and she’s decided to tease the fans about why they can expect.
During a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, Jenkins was asked about her return to Wonder Woman 2. The director said she’s very excited to see the heroine grow, and Diana will hit her maturity when she suits up in America.
“I’m excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero. I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing. Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.”
While we will obviously not hear anything about the script itself, it’s exciting news. Jenkins is teaming up with DC Films’ Geoff Johns and screenwriter Dave Callaham on the story.
