In what many are calling a surprise, Amazon has renewed Z: The Beginning of Everything for a second season.
The decision comes as a bit of a shocker given that the drama has received lukewarm reviews from critics. The renewal comes in the wake of a recent study that claimed Amazon Studios’ development process has a “Sexist loophole” that favored straight to series shows created by men and criticism over decision back in December to cancel the female fronted period drama Good Girls Revolt less than two months after its debut.
Created by Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin, the bio-series is based on the life of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald (Christina Ricci), the brilliant, beautiful and talented Southern Belle who becomes the original flapper and icon of the wild, flamboyant Jazz Age in the 20s.
