Wonder Woman Scene That Was Almost Reshot

Wonder Woman has given hope to fans of DCEU after giving fans the first great installment in the DCEU. The film opened last Friday and  debuted to a historic $223 million worldwide, including $100.5 million domestically which is a record breaking opening weekend number for a female directed film.

A DCEU that has had its share of reshoots, this installment took a different approach as director Patty Jenkins added just one new scene after she wrapped production in November 2015. As originally shot, Diana Prince is walking with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) toward the World War I battlefield, as she prepares to eventually battle Ares. However, when  Jenkins watched the finished cut, she later stated that  there was something missing.

“I wanted to ramp that tension as much as possible, and unfortunately, we didn’t have it,That scene was just a slightly tense scene of them walking. I was like ‘I need her to see some brutality.’ So, we added her seeing the horses being whipped. It was actually something that had been in the script originally.”

“We replaced that one scene with a reshot scene, and we didn’t change the order of a single scene, “So what you saw is exactly the movie that we were always making.”

This shows that even a subtle change can make a world of difference in a film.
