The first two days of the Tribeca Film Festival not only brought some great films, but consistent awkward laughter before each film. United Airlines is a sponsor of the festival and aired an advertisement before each film. For each of the screenings I attended last week, once the advertisement aired, the crowd in both screenings responded with an awkward laughter as to the “top notch” service United provides. Those laughters will come to an end as a joint decision between United and Tribeca to remove the spot, and United remains integral to the festival landscape as the airline helps get filmmakers to New York for the event.
“United is a valued partner of the Tribeca Film Festival, and we are grateful for their continued support of our filmmakers and the arts,” said festival spokesperson Tammie Rosen.
