Star Wars Will Highlight Female Heroes in Forces of Destiny Animated Series

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced the creation of an upcoming series entitled Forces of Destiny. The series will consist of eight animated 2-D shorts that will highlight female heroes including Princess Leia, Padme Amidala from the prequel series, Rey from The Force Awakens, and Jyn Erso from 2016’s Rogue One.

The first eight webisodes will debut this July on Disney’s YouTube channel and eventually be paired with eight more episodes this fall for a pair of specials to air on the Disney Channel.

In regards to the voice overs for the roles, Daisy Ridley and Felicity Jones will voice their characters, Rey and Jyn. With the recent passing of Carrie Fisher, Shelby Young will take on Princess Leia and a brand new actress will voice Padme as a replacement for Natalie Portman.
