Rocky Statue in Philly Closes for Renovations

The iconic Rocky statue in Philadelphia is set to close for a couple of weeks to undergo location renovations.

The statue at the Philadelphia Museum Of Art also known as the “Rocky steps” are not only two of Philadelphia’s most popular tourist attractions but two of the most iconic sites in the film. The city’s parks and recreation department told Philadelphia local news station Fox 29 that improvements need to be made to the surrounding pavement.

The statue was originally commissioned by star Sylvester Stallone in 1982 for a dedication scene in Rocky III, and was eventually was donated to the city afterward and was moved to its current location in 2006.
