Pop princess Rihanna and Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o are in talks to co-star in a Netflix film directed by Ava DuVernay. The uniqueness of this project stems from its creation in the Twitterverse.
Last month, Twitter user @1800SADGAL posted an image of the Oscar and Grammy winners sitting front row at a 2014 Miu Miu fashion show with the caption, “Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and Lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scams.”
The post went viral and the suggestion came to life with Ava DuVernay and Rae on board the then-hypothetical film. Netflix acquired the project at the Cannes Film Festival and DuVernay confirmed the news that the film was set to be made.
