Pirates Of The Caribbean to Be First Hollywood Feature to Play New Panoramic Cinema Format in U.S.

Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films upcoming release Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will have a first. The film will be the first Hollywood feature to be released in the United States for the new panorama-like ScreenX format.

Th recently launched ScreenX is a multi-projector, 270-degree cinema system from Seoul-headquartered CJ 4DPlex. According to CJ, the new installment of the Johnny Depp-led franchise is scheduled to play at 83 ScreenX locations around the world, including two in the U.S., CGV Buena Park, and CGV Cinemas LA, both in California. Senior VP of Walt Disney Studios, Jeffery Forman stated,

“ScreenX is an exciting format that we’ve been keeping our eyes on for a while now. We’re looking forward to providing moviegoers a chance to view our film in the format and are confident that the immersive 270-degree viewing experience will be a big success,”
