Jennifer Lopez has signed on to star in Hustlers, a film based on a New York Magazine piece about former strippers, who concoct a scheme to steal money from their Wall Street clients.
Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, The Meddler) is directing the film and also wrote the script based on the 2015 piece by Jessica Pressler, which was based on a true story. Annapurna and Gloria Sanchez are producing the Robin Hood-type tale with Scafaria co-producing. Scafaria’s script takes place in the early aughts in New York City in the wake of the financial crisis and explores the toll it took on the livelihood of the dancers who relied on their Wall Street clientele.
Lopez will play a former stripper and the ringleader to the group of ambitious women who take their plans of getting their full cut too far. Lopez and producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, will executive produce along with associate producer Alexandra Brown.
