Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 On Track For $150M U.S. Debut

Director James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 looks to run the box office in 3 weeks!

The upcoming sequel from Disney and Marvel Studios is now projected to take in a domestic opening of at least $150 million when it hits theaters May 5th. The $150 million would be well ahead of the $94.3 million debut of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014, eventually earning $733 million worldwide, which the sequel is sure to surpass by the time the film is out of theaters. What helps the sequel’s cause is that it tested higher than any other title in Marvel’s nine-year history in securing a perfect, if not unprecedented, 100 score.
