David O. Russell May Produce Matthew Quick’s Boy21

David O. Russell has signed on to produce another Matthew Quick novel. This time around it’s a film adaption of Boy21.

Boy21 tells the story of two teenagers in a rough town ruled by the Irish mob, drugs, and rivalries. One teen, Finley, dreams of getting out of town and uses basketball as an escape from his everyday life, which includes taking care of a disabled grandfather. Russ, the other boy in the novel, is a former basketball phenom whose life has been turned upside down by tragedy.

No director or actors have been attached to the film yet.
